๐ Series
A series is a topic of dated entries, newest first, such as a daily report, where readers move between days rather than choose a path. This page will guide you through making a topic a series, adding entries, setting the covers date and how readers see the result.
Making a topic a seriesโ
- Open the topic's opening story in the editor.
- Find "Topic type" in the settings panel and choose "Dated series".
- Press "Save" to apply it.
Switching keeps every story and choice, so you can switch back to "Thread" without losing work. See Topics.
Adding an entryโ
Press "New entry" on the topic's card in "Topics". The Studio creates a draft titled with the topic name and today's date, with that date as its covers date, and opens it. Write the entry and publish it.
Entries need no choices. Readers reach them from the topic page and from the "Previous day" and "Next day" cards, not through "What comes next".
The covers dateโ
The covers date is the day an entry reports on.
- Set it on each entry to the day it covers. The site shows it instead of the publish date, and the series is ordered by it.
- Without a covers date, an entry is ordered by the day it was published.
This allows you to publish an entry late, for example a report on 27 October 2026 written the next morning, and still have it sit in the right place.
How readers see a seriesโ
Readers get the latest entry first. Each entry ends with "Previous day" and "Next day" cards, a "Latest" button that jumps to the newest entry, and a link to the full archive. If an entry is the first or the latest, the card says so. A series has no endings, so it earns no gems.
Best Practicesโ
- One entry per day: check the series for an existing entry with the same covers date before you add another.
- Keep the title pattern: the Studio's "topic name and date" title makes the archive easy to scan.
- Use a thread for anything that branches: a series is for steady, dated updates.
