๐ฅ Reader Accounts
Reader accounts are the optional sign-ins readers use on the public site to keep their place, and "Readers" in the Studio is where you see them. This page will guide you through the list, the numbers at the top and what is kept about each reader.
The Readers screenโ
Open "Readers" from the navigation. The page is headed "People who signed in on the site to keep their place." Two figures sit at the top:
- Signed-in readers: how many readers have an account.
- Active this week: how many read, synced or signed in during the last 7 days.
Below them is the list of reader accounts. Use "Find by name or emailโฆ" to search, and "Show more" to load further readers.
Each row shows:
- Name and email, as shared by the reader's sign-in ("No name shared" or "No email shared" if one is missing).
- Stories read, as a count.
- When they joined and when they were last active ("No activity yet" if they have not been).
- Their current place: the last story on their trail, with its topic, or "No place saved".
Press a reader's current place to open that story in the Studio.
If no one has signed in yet, the screen says "No readers have signed in yet. They appear here after their first sign-in on the site." and offers "Open the site".
What a reader account holdsโ
A side panel headed "What we keep" explains it: when a reader signs in, the site stores the name and email from their sign-in, which stories they have read and the last stories on their trail, so their place follows them between devices. That is all a reader account holds, and only editors can see this list.
Readers never get access to the Studio by signing in on the site. For how readers sign in, see Signing in and syncing.
Reader accounts are optional. If the site does not offer reader sign-in, this list stays empty and readers keep their progress in their own browser.
