⚡ Briefs and The Wire
Briefs are short posts of a few sentences, sometimes with a link or an image, and The Wire is the strip under the site header that scrolls the latest ones. This page will guide you through where to find Briefs, how to follow them, and how they differ from stories. On the website they are labelled "Briefs".
The Wire
When there are published Briefs, a strip under the header shows them, led by a label reading "The Wire". Each item shows the first part of a Brief, and pressing it opens that Brief on its own page. Pressing "The Wire" itself opens the full list.
The Briefs page
The Briefs page, headed "Short on time? Start here.", lists every published Brief, newest first, with a count and an RSS link. It also has a "Want a longer read?" panel with a "Start here" button that takes you to "Explore".
On the home page, a "Briefs" section shows the latest few with dates and a "See all Briefs" link. Briefs is also in the site footer.
Following Briefs
- RSS: use the RSS link on the Briefs page to follow Briefs in a feed reader. Stories have their own separate feed.
- A single Brief: each Brief has its own page, so you can share one directly.
How Briefs differ from stories
- They are short. A Brief is plain text, with an optional link and an optional image.
- They are not part of a topic. A Brief has no choices and does not appear on maps.
- They can be AI-generated. A Brief posted from an AI story follows your "Hide AI-generated stories" setting. See Themes and AI stories.
The Android app does not show Briefs. Use the website to read them.
Writers add Briefs from the Studio. See Briefs in the Studio.
