๐Ÿงช Example Workflows

A workflow is a short series of requests you give an agent, with the tools it uses and the checks you make along the way. This page will guide you through five common workflows, each written as plain requests you can adapt. They work the same way in Claude Desktop, Cursor and Claude Code.

Summary

Every workflow follows the same rhythm: the agent reads first, drafts as a dry run, you review, and only then does it apply or publish.

Drafting a new threadโ€‹

Scopes: read, write:content.

  • Ask for the shape first: "Plan a thread called Sustainable Cities with an opening story, two choices and three endings. Show me the plan before creating anything."
  • Ask for a dry run: "Create it as drafts, dry run first." The agent calls create_story and set_choices and reports what would be created.
  • Apply it: "Looks good, run it for real." The stories are created as drafts.
  • Review in the Studio: open "Story structure" and read each draft. See Maps and story structure.

Nothing is public yet, so you can edit freely in the Studio.

Publishing the threadโ€‹

Scopes: add publish.

  • Ask for a dry run: "Publish the Sustainable Cities thread, dry run first." The agent calls publish_thread and lists what would be published and what would be skipped.
  • Apply it, then check the rebuild: "When is the next site update?" The agent calls rebuild_status.
  • Check the live topic after the update. See Publishing a whole thread.

Adding today's entry to a seriesโ€‹

Scopes: read, write:content, and publish to put it live.

  • Check for a duplicate: "List the entries in Daily Briefing and their covers dates." The agent calls list_stories for that topic.
  • Draft the entry: "Create today's entry with this text, covers date 28 October 2026." A story created with only a topic in a series becomes a dated entry.
  • Publish or schedule it: "Schedule it for 7:00 am tomorrow." The agent calls publish_story with a scheduled time.

See Series.

Adding an image with creditโ€‹

Scopes: read, write:content.

  • Search: "Find a free photo of a tram in Melbourne." The agent calls search_images.
  • Import and attach: "Use the second one on the opening story, with alt text describing it." The agent calls import_image, then update_story with the image, alt text and credit.
  • Check the credit on the story's card in the Studio.

See Images.

Fixing missing alt textโ€‹

Scopes: read, write:content.

  • Find the gaps: "Find stories with images that have no alt text." The agent calls find_image_alt_issues.
  • Review the suggestions: "For each one, look at the image and suggest alt text. Do not change anything yet."
  • Apply them: "Update the ones I approved." The agent calls update_story for each.

This allows you to fix a whole site's alt text in one sitting, while you still approve every change.

Best Practicesโ€‹

  • Ask for a plan before a dry run: agents follow a plan they have shown you more closely.
  • Name the topic every time: it keeps the agent from guessing which topic you mean.
  • Check the audit log afterwards: "API & MCP", then "Recent activity". See Safety and permissions.
